COMPLIANT WITH THE RULES RESPECTING TRACK SAFETY (TSR)

RTC has been testing with High Rail Geometry since 2007.
“GEO1” was a contact system, created by Andian Technologies which, in our opinion, revolutionized High Rail Geometry. First known as Acutract now known as SOLIDTRACK.
Unfortunately, the Transport Canada, Track Safety Rules (TSR) (then), did not permit the use of HiRail testing for the purpose of meeting the requirements of Geometry Testing. However, SOLIDTRACK proved to be an invaluable tool and was soon being utilized by Transport Canada as an added tool for track Audits. Today Transport Canada uses SOLIDTRACK, exclusively.
On May 25, 2012 Transport Canada revised the Rules Respecting Track Safety (still TSR) making previsions for Light Geometry Inspection Vehicles (LGIV) or HiRail Geometry, for Class 1 and Class 2 tracks. However, the TSR maintained that all measurements must be taken from the Head of the Rail, to avoid incorrect Geometry measurements.
While excited that the new rules would enable the use of Light Geometry Inspection Vehicles (LGIV) to perform some Testing, the rules made the contact System SOLIDTRACK unable to meet the requirements as SOLIDTRACK measures the Vehicle Dynamic value, rather than the Rail Head Value (in other words it measures what the vehicle does rather than what the track is doing). Except, gauge measurements which are taken from contact wheels. Unfortunately again we could not measure compliant gauge where greater than normal "rail lip" existed or in some cases switches. Rail lip is prominent on Class 1 and Class 2 track.
To meet our obligations to the Rules Respecting Track Safety (TSR) and our client need RTC with the help of the MerMac Group created GEO2, meeting all requirements for the TSR.
RTC’s GEO2 meets the requirements of the Rules Respecting Track Safety.
We would like to thank Transport Canada for their dedication to Rail Safety and allowing us to present to them High Rail Geometry and adopting it, and adopting some of our recommendations for Geometry Testing within the new 2012 TSR.
We would like to thank CN for their support with GEO1 in the early days.
A special thanks to the Canadian Pacific Railway for embracing our new technology of “GEO2” over the years. Without your high standards we could not have made the progress we did.
Today we have GEO2 compliant with the requirements of the Rules Respecting Track Safety (TSR).
Call us for a TSR compliant LGIV test.
NOT COMPLIANT UNFORTUNATELY GEO1 DOES NOT MEET T.C. RULES RESPECTING TRACK SFETY DUE TO CONTACT SYSTEM – UPGRADE TO GEO 2
